THE SUPPLY TRAIL

Camp Supply (now known as Fort Supply) was established in Northwest Indian Territory in 1868 to support the campaign against the Southern Plains Indians. All food, ordinance and other supplies were transported to the fort from the railhead at Kiowa, Kansas by wagon and stagecoace. The route of the historic supply trail crossed northern Woods County, Oklahoma and forded the Cimarron River near Freedom.

Mural painted by Roger Cooke in 2010.
